Luong Hoa Waste Treatment Area is the collection point for the entire city of Nha Trang, handling a daily waste volume of 450-500 tons. The waste processing stages commence from this point. Standing amidst the massive landfill at Luong Hoa, what surprises us is the absence of unpleasant odors emanating from this colossal waste site.
In the process of "reviving" waste from the projects that the provincial People's Committee is currently implementing, waste collection is a crucial and challenging stage. In Nha Trang City, waste collection is not only carried out on land but also involves specialized teams and crews going out to sea to collect waste using boats.
Waste collection at sea is more challenging and arduous than on land due to its dependence on weather conditions. During the stormy season, boats may not be able to reach the islands. The period after a storm is the most difficult time when islands and seas are filled with waste, and workers may have to continuously clean up for an entire week. Currently, on average, the collection team manages to gather 3-4 tons of waste per day at sea and on the islands in Nha Trang Bay.
Waste brought to the landfill has been biologically deodorized to aid decomposition. Subsequently, it undergoes compaction and compression to reduce volume, forming layers. Only then is it covered with soil, and disinfectant lime is spread on top. "The leachate from the waste, if it permeates the soil, can cause pollution. Therefore, the station is tasked with collecting all leachate through the HDPE synthetic membrane layer and the continued stirring and filtering system of pipes. The leachate is treated with chemicals before being directed to the wastewater treatment plant of the project in the southern part of Nha Trang through a separate pipeline."
With such a massive amount of waste, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment has placed trust in and selected Viet An as the consulting, design, construction, and equipment provider for environmental monitoring. iLotusland Transmitting data to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Nha Trang City for the Ambient Air Monitoring Station located here.
Ambient Air Monitoring Station will monitor all harmful indicators in the air and promptly issue warnings when these indicators exceed the thresholds, assisting the investor in promptly addressing any incidents. This contributes to improving the living environment quality for the residents.
